🧵 Retirement is a trap The end goal of a career is not to suddenly stop working & live a life of leisure. Humans *need* the stimulation & fulfillment that come from challenging work. The problem is that we associate “work” with soul-crushing jobs we can’t wait to escape. 👇

🖐️ (Thankful for the vaccines that protect me, my family, and millions of others everyday, not just from severe illness or death due to COVID but from so many diseases.)
Raise your 🖐️ if you are fully vaccinated for COVID and have had no side effects!

ChatGPT, and everything @OpenAI is building, will never be useful for the masses. It’s incredibly powerful for people building services who can harness the power into domain-specific application uses.
Chat GPT, 7 years in, is about 50% of the way to where it needs to be to actually be a useful tool for the masses. And the next 50% is 10x harder. I’m very bearish on AI. So many smart folks are going into the space and it’s gonna be a brutal 10 years for them.

In this way AI always feels like magic. Your app just got more capable, you - the average user - are blind to how AI was incorporated to make those features work or work better.

Language matters. It is not enough to say we want Ukraine to defend itself - we want it to win. It is not enough to say we want to stop Russia - we want to defeat it. And that means a lot more fighting and the liberation of occupied Ukrainian territories. theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv…

Since when did suggesting that we should respect people become a “left-wing” idea? Saying that if John wants to be called Jane they aren’t worthy of respect and to have their wish honored isn’t a conservative value, it’s the value of assholes. #ConservatismIsKindness
More evidence of left-wing bias in the chatGPT algorithm: The statement “transgender women aren’t real women” is flagged as a violation of the AI’s “content policy” — “it is important to respect and honor a person's self-identified gender.”

If you “aspire to be historically great” I can almost assure you’ll be a failure. Historical greatness is largely dependent on timing. Just focus on being continually getting better at work that you really enjoy, you’ll be much more successful, fulfilled, and useful in life.
Replying to @mikedotwaves
Remote Work definitely changes the game, and greatness can come from anywhere. But if you aspire to be the best, the very best, historically great? Much harder to do in small ponds

Working in a large tech company, one thing I wish every team had (but barely any have it): A “map” of the teams that you depend on, that depend on you, and ones that are coupled to your work in one way or the other. One map for engineering teams; another for non-eng ones.

It is quite a coincidence that the Number 1 ranked high school in the Commonwealth of Virginia (TJHSST) and the Number 2 ranked high school in the Commonwealth of Virginia (Langley HS) experienced EXACTLY the same Nat. Merit problem. Was this a calculated attack on excellence??

Here is #ChatGPT writing a #Dynamics365 / #PowerApps FetchXML query for a table structure I just made up and told it what to query using natural language.
This is when I wish @JoeBiden had a Truth Social account and would reply to this stuff with: "Nah dog, it's way more than that...loser."

This is fucking insane. They need sugar & screen time heavily reduced. That’s literally it in the vast majority of cases.

RIP Mr. Pavitt. May your children always have fond memories of you and know that because of their father’s work and dedication America is a safer place for freedom to flourish.
Rest in peace, Jim Pavitt, former @CIA Deputy Director of Operations who passed in late December. Under his leadership CIA launched officers in response to the 9/11 attack, putting the first boots on the ground in Afghanistan.

Hey @AmericanExpress who do I talk to when your online chat operator says one thing and then when I call I'm told something different and no one wants to take responsibility for the fact that the chat operator lied to me?
