Despite this tumultuous time in America, and our (many) flaws, I never forget how lucky I am to be part of this country. It *is* a place worth saving. "The majority who wants to save this country needs to become louder and more confident than ideologically driven people..."👇
I think I'm going to make my annual 4th of July post a "state of the union" regarding American politics. This year's post is a sober warning. noahpinion.substack.com/p/a-…

Since immigrants consume goods and services, you approach a neutral effect on wages. Immigrants and natives also operate within different markets - they’re imperfect substitutes. Given this, they actually have a positive long run effect on wages! nber.org/papers/w14188

For the record, if you tripled the US population then on average the country as a whole would be slightly less dense than Connecticut is today. People have this idea that One Billion Americans is about Kowloon Walled City or favelas or something, but Connecticut is very nice.

give each pixel a random Pokemon type, and then battle pixels against their neighbors, updating each pixel with the winning type (using the Pokemon type chart) we quickly see areas of fire > water > grass > fire, electric sweeping over, ground frontiers taking over etc etc

He was right.
People are losing their shit with no regard for how much shit they need to be keeping in reserve, in order to lose later.

This is a good example, again, of the filibuster undermining bipartisanship — there’s no way you’d hold unanimous Republican support for this kind of blockade of a widely supported bill.
Let me be perfectly clear: there will be no bipartisan USICA as long as Democrats are pursuing a partisan reconciliation bill.
