From a social cohesion perspective, this is a pretty poor take. A nation-state can cultivate and maintain healthy levels of social trust and mutual respect - if it has a relatively stable national membership. That requires both robust immigration & civic-integration policies.

The Left's big dilemma: The surest way to foster higher levels of social trust and mutual respect in a diverse democracy? Have a more restrictive immigration regime, tightened asylum system, and implement robust civic-integration schemes which generate forms of national pride.

Social democracy and open borders simply do not mix. It is unworkable. And this is where there is a serious blindspot in modern left-wing thinking in Britain: Inclusivity, solidarity and reciprocity in a liberal democracy such as ours, ultimately rests on a degree of exclusion.

"I will proudly take up the offer of a booster" "I have had two doses, but refuse to take the booster" "I will never be vaccinated - my body, my choice" For some, personal vaccination status is treated as a badge of honour - a vital part of one's sense of self. How bizarre.

Delighted to be chairing this @HJS_Org online discussion with Tory MP @JohnPenroseNews on his forthcoming policy paper "Poverty Trapped". He is certainly not a fan of US-inspired identity politics in equality policy. Mon 6th Dec, 3pm-4pm. Book here 👇 henryjacksonsociety.org/even…

"Once again, the identitarian band of white-collar professionals of the public sector has shown it has little to no clue about Britain’s religious minorities." 🔥

While I appreciate the efforts of the mayor to rig me a job in the tech sector based on my colour rather than my capability, I'd much rather forge my own career without the divisive implication that I'm too stupid, poor or inept to do so without his discriminating on my behalf.
Black men are underrepresented in our tech workforce, making up only 5%. Our new initiative—backed by businesses like Dell, Ford and Cognizant—will be essential in our efforts to fix this for good. More here:

Great piece by @rakibehsan for @mailplus. Those in the civil service that come up with these stupid ideas are probably ineffective and now trying to prove their worth. How about sorting out the compensation for victims of the Windrush scandal instead? mailplus.co.uk/edition/comme…

Even if most of Britain's religious minorities were offended by the term 'Christmas' - which is simply not the case - that would not be an excuse to ban the term. England has an established church and Christianity plays a major part in British cultural heritage and traditions.

Dear “wokies” I’m Hindu. #Christmas doesn’t offend me one bit. As well as being a major festival in a majority Christian country, it’s also a special British festival that should bring us together. I love it, and my family celebrates it. Stop your fake whining. It’s pathetic.

It is that time of the year again. Virtue-signalling secularists with a white-saviour complex saying that the term 'Christmas' needs to be replaced as it is "offensive" to non-Christian minorities. These people do not represent Britain's religious minorities in the slightest.
