The test for "NeverTrump" intellecuals is where they stand on DeSantis. He should be their guy: elite education, military background, leadership experience, impeccable character. If they can't get behind him, the takeaway is clear: it's not about principles; they serve the Left.

The axiomatic case: Joe Walsh might as well be copying-and-pasting Jason Stanley tweets. Pure MSNBC brain fever. Not gonna make it.

The QTs are in: the opinions of Max Boot, Joe Walsh, and Lincoln Project co-founder Reed Galen are virtually indistinguishable from those of New York Magazine's resident lunatic Jonathan Chait. It might have been about principles in the beginning, but now it's pure grift.

That's an easy case. He was never about principles. 😅

Something about Desantis isn't sitting right with me, I just don't trust him fully. He's better than Trump I admit but I trust Trump a little more still.

Trump lost me in the town hall with Savannah Guthrie. He couldn’t articulate basic conservative viewpoints beyond 2 or 3 sentences. He’d keep repeating flash card phrases over and over but couldn’t expand on the concepts. I still voted for him but that was the day I lost hope.

As someone who refused to vote for Trump twice, I will absolutely vote for Desantis (in primary and general). I'm not saying I agree with him on everything, but he's far and wide the best 2024 (potential)candidate I've seen so far.

Many of the never Trumpers either have or will simply invent high, new standards which they never applied to a Republican nominee before Trump

It was not that our standards were lower before as much as the trump era helped to expose the Republican party for what it truly was and our eyes have been opened to that. Their reaction to trump showed us their true character
