For my project it's mostly because we aim for high quality graphics and my team is used to unreal - I really hope with what godot 4 would bring we can look into it more for future games. In other cases porting is definitely huge factor which sadly is deal breaker for now

My feeling is that sometime along the line for 4.x releases (4.1 or 4.2), Godot will finally become useful for companies making 3D games. There is still some good amount of work to do. For consoles I am working hard on finding a solution, so hoping to announce something soon.

For me - It is a lack of three key features. Streaming (Audio, Geometry, scenes, etc.), large world support but that one is being worked on in the form of double precision support, and tooling for large world support for managing large worlds in the Godot editor.

The idea is to implement streaming for Godot 4.1, we have a pretty good plan on how to do it, but it did not make the cut for 4.0.

I think you miss one of the most important points which is how the job market is being addressed, 98% of the job offers are for Unity and Unreal, this is sad and it's not because you guys are not doing things in the right way,the main problem is some old business mentality

For business consideration, you have to look at the global strategy of these companies and their business models : unreal and unity both have official schools and trainings, they have commercials promoting it, people doing marketing, assets store to retribute artists, etc.

I would love a render like in unreal, so I can export results of my creative coding explorations without capturing the screen. Maybe even for real-time rendering of some sort :) just it, a button to export some png, tiffs and exr, maybe even passes. But I know its not priority
