Anti-vaxxers spread misinformation about vaccines and autism for decades. Now that tumor metastasized in other parts of the American body politic and ruined everything from the response to the pandemic to election misinformation. msnbc.com/opinion/tracing-am…

One of the best things about this hell site is access to some of the brightest minds in the world. People who have spent their lives in science as opposed to, say, monetizing off of Roger Ailes's Frankenstein. Thankful someone such as Muge Cevik is on Twitter. She says ⬇️

Yes, we may need omicron specific vaccines, esp if omicron is to outcompete delta globally, which we don't know yet. But, at present Delta remains the dominant variant globally. So, don't wait for an updated vaccine, get your primary 2 doses and/or booster dose immediately.

The last paragraph of this piece is art. Sobering art. But truly art.
Forty-one years ago tonight, John Lennon was shot and killed outside his home by a man he had given his autograph earlier that day. Two hours after Lennon died, Jimmy Breslin filed the best on-deadline newspaper column in history. nydailynews.com/news/nationa…

A heroic rescue attempt — and a terrible ending. Thanks to the Coast Guard. True hero stuff there.

No hyperbole. No bullshit. Thomas Lake's original three part series on James Brown is one of the best things I read the year it came out. You won't regret reading this (nor will you soon forget it) if you missed it then. cnn.com/interactive/2019/02/…
Re-upping for the afternoon crowd: CNN sued the CIA this year for records on James Brown, Godfather of Soul. The CIA won't say whether it has any records, citing potential damage to national security. cnn.com/2021/12/08/us/james-…

Two immediate things v. cool to see on ESPN's CFB bowl assignments: 1. @MollyAMcGrath gets a national title game assignment. Awesome. 2. Very cool to see @RGIII get a semifinal assignment (he's doing radio w. Mark Jones and Quint Kessenich for Michigan-Georgia.

Both of you have seen me call this "additive" and I think you'd both agree I haven't been over-the-top on MC. So let me pose this to you soberly: Given who both of you likely follow, it's going to be so heavily overweighted w/those into the MC. 1/2.
