Progress this week on the #flatrockfoodforest! 15 dumptruck loads chips were much easier to move with a tractor rental! This little 1025 @JohnDeere has some BIG moving capacity! Moved all 15 loads to several locations on site. @motorworks88 you were right! I need a tractor!

Sunchokes! 5 roots became 1/2 gallon of sunchokes! This was a super easy no hassle crop. Great substitute for water chestnuts, crunchy. These will be a definite yes in the #flatrockfoodforest

Lots of stuff going on today. Sheet mulching and wood chip mulching sections of the #flatrockfoodforest pulling out tomatoes from the #flatrockgreenhouse, making compost, and lots of other odd jobs!

We’re hoping to really kickstart our #flatrockfoodforest but we need materials! Divert your yard waste from the landfill and bypass the dump lineup by dumping your leaves, sticks, twigs and tree branches, at our property instead! feel free to pm me for drop off.

They say it’s hardy to down to zone 5…I hope so! Definitely on the list for the #flatrockfoodforest !
Pawpaw in Ontario with @PaulDeCampo. DeCampo talks about the history of the fruit in the province. It’s not just for farms and orchards. He points out that shady city conditions can be perfect for this forest-edge tree that does well in shade. #pawpaw foodgardenlife.com/show/onta…

Update to my previous post re: native beaked hazelnut…..I found it! I have 4 nuts! Time to start scarification and stratification. Into the refrigerator for 6 months, to simulate winter like temperatures! They’ll be ready to plant in March. #flatrockfoodforest

Replying to @SherriANash
Hoping to get a few cuttings mid winter and root them. My plan is to add several to the #flatrockfoodforest ! Along with peanuts we’ll be self sufficient with nuts in no time!

Our lot is .9 acres, but only a fraction used. It’ll be mapped out in the next videos. I’d say it’s over a few thousand sq ft. The food forest is next! #flatrockfoodforest
