As a teacher, @MDonahueforIA makes an important point during debate on the Governor’s book-banning bill: “I wish I was standing here today talking about things that are going to help kids learn how to read, not how we're going to prevent kids from reading.” #ialegis

Here’s the truth about Republican politicians’ attacks on public schools: they make it harder to recruit teachers, educate kids & solve Iowa’s workforce crisis. We should be making Iowa more welcoming for teachers and new residents – not less. #ialegis axios.com/local/des-moines/2…

So I just wanted to clear the air for anyone who had seen either of those stories. Obviously I don't love being critical of other journalists' reporting, but I love even less something untrue being out there about myself and this group up here at the Iowa Capitol. #ialegis #iagov

One clarification: This bugs me not because it may upset some people. People are upset at me all the time. That doesn't bother me, and I'm not in the least bit worried about accurate reporting upsetting someone. The reason it bothers me is it's not true. #ialegis #iagov

Have some statehouse reporters observed that #ialegis Rs and #iagov Reynolds are moving bills similar if not identical to bills previously passed in FL? Sure. That's our job. But nobody in the press corps has made it into a joke. I've heard others make it. But not reporters.
