NEW: Page County Public Schools says police were notified of the threats and school security has been increased. Virginia has a red flag law allowing courts to grant a temporary restraining order to remove a persons guns if they’re a threat. #vagov core-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/d…

MORE: The Virginia woman threatening to shoot anyone enforcing a mask mandate in her children’s school is Amelia King, a dental hygienist (who is anti-mask 😳). She has since written a letter of apology saying she was "speaking figuratively." #vagov invidious.fdn.fr/7FidG6S9nx8?t=5963

Apparently Amelia King’s apology for threatening to shoot and kill people is good enough for the Luray, Virginia, police chief. He released a statement saying she “immediately contacted law enforcement to apologize because the statement was not intended the way it was perceived.”

His statement is in the same category as "thoughts and prayers."

Hmmm…how can “I’ll bring every gun I have loaded…” be intended or perceived in any way other than what was clearly stated?

I wonder what his note would have said if had been a black woman who made that remark 🤔

Until we stop accepting this behavior and instead respond with severe punishments, we will continue the downward spiral of violence into chaos.

Luray police chief says he won't arrest person who made terrorist threats. Because when she saw it going viral on twitter she called to say that wasn't her "intent" Of course, this always works with bomb threats. Just call back later to "apologize"!

Pretty cool I think next time/first time I ever threaten to murder people for some mild inconvenience on film I will just call the police and explain that it was a momentary lapse in judgement, no bad. Also I'm white.

The police prove on a daily basis that white folks are treated far more lenient than Black and brown people. They don't even try to hide it anymore
