This entire thread is terrifying and infuriating. My kids have been out of school for a long time, but now my granddaughter is the elementary school they attended. I don't know if they have similar drills, but I'm sure they must. BAN THE FUCKING ASSAULT WEAPONS.
What they don’t tell you is teachers are told in training that they have to lock out any of their students who are out of the classroom, *out of the classroom*. Even if they beg and bang on the door. Because there could be a shooter using them to access your classroom.

Teachers should not have the responsibility of having to sacrifice a child who didn't make it to the classroom in time. Children shouldn't have to fear going to the bathroom in case there is a drill or real situation. Little ones won't know the different.

When I was in 3rd grade, we had a code red drill. While we were all huddled together in the dark, someone started banging on the door asking to be let in. The teacher whispered to us, asking us what to do. I said let them in, and the teacher told me to go open the door, then. 1/2

I saw this last night, and was confused b/c it said she was the only survivor of the shooting. I saw lots of kids get out of the school. Now I hear the gunman was locked in a classroom w/kids. So she's the only one from that classroom who lived?
