I couldn’t believe what I was watching. Pete handled it okay but I wish he called Joe out on this question (in the diplomatic way that only Pete could).

Pete’s response was correct: “accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord & Savior” does in fact mean different things to different people. Its a dog whistle to evangelicals, alarming to main line Protestants & Catholics, and an aww hell no to secularists (people he cant risk alienating)

Yes I know...that’s why I wished he had not even said “Yes” to Joe’s badgering. The first time he deflected (nicely) but by the second (or was it the third?) time he finally said “Yes and...” quickly and then went on to talk about faith and works.
