I spoke to @protocol about the importance of having a variety of feedback options for employees, including @allvoicesco or something like it!
The candid conversations employees have on Workplace, which at times level serious criticisms at the company, are a product of Facebook's "open culture." protocol.com/workplace/faceb…

Can you distinguish the person (personality) from their mental health problems (psychopathology)? This was the motivating question @HopwoodChris, I, and a bunch of authors took up in an upcoming special issue in the Journal of Personality. A thread... psyarxiv.com/7nk9t

As I recover from my own breakthrough Covid case, I am very thankful that I'm vaccinated and very frustrated with media coverage that is not clearly communicating that the vaccine IS WORKING! 1/

Interesting thread. Read it all, but essentially he argues: a) the unvaxed should brace for a world of hurt b) many vaccinated ppl will get Covid but few will get seriously ill c) non-vax solutions (masks) are just a delay; they only help if far more ppl ultimately get vaxed
I don't think leaders here have wrapped their heads around the impact of Delta in the US. This is a new era: A) A bad phase of the pandemic for unvaccinated adults and B) The beginning of the endemic reality for vaccinated people. Policy responses require a new paradigm. 1/n

Got my copy of 'The Science of Dream Teams' by Mike Zani (CEO, @predictiveindex) Lot of actionable advice in it like this exercise for those who work closely with each other to go through. Answers will lead to the kind of conversations you'd normally avoid but need to have.

None of her colleagues knew why Mackenzie Kelly wasn't at yesterday's City Council meeting, even though she asked Council not to act on an important item in her absence. Her office only said she had an "unavoidable prior commitment." From my newsletter today:

Just read an important book by @KenEllingwood, First to Fall, on mob rule in America. Elijah Lovejoy's drama takes place in the 1830s, but is ever more relevant today. thenumerati.net/?postID=1059…

Extremely disingenuous history by @mtaibbi & Thomas Frank. One of big reasons Dems had House majority for so long was conservative southern Dems. There were spurts of liberalism (the New Deal, the Great Society), but hardly enduring liberal majority in Congress.
