A pleasure to see 'Belfast' by Kenneth Branagh tonight in Washington. It wasn't Much Ado About Nothing, was an invitation to experience the spirit of a people, seen through the eyes of a young boy. It's 'Cider With Rosie' with petrol bombs. @IrelandEmbUSA

Pounds and ounces *can* be used under the Protocol and under all EU law. The UK ensured as much when a Member State. They just, under EU law, have to be used *alongside* a measurement system that people in the UK under the age of 60 actually understand. Horrifying, right?
The Northern Ireland Protocol must allow pounds and ounces to be used in the province to prevent a “two-speed UK”, Tory Brexiteers have warned telegraph.co.uk/news/2021/10…

1/ The EU's Protocol proposals are a deliberate effort to reach out to NI and to sideline what the UK Govt wants to achieve. The NI Unionist parties are in a powerful position to shape negotiations if they can decide what they want: blogs.lse.ac.uk/politicsandp…

So far as I can see the major difference between the EU's July paper on medicines & the one today concerns packaging & leaflets. Which sounds trivial but isn't.
