It is… a perfect middlebrow essay on the impact of Matti Nykänen on Finland. This is exactly how WaPo would explain it.

The simultaneous bombshells of Lensa becoming Number 2 grossing app in America and ChatGPT taking AI generated text far beyond what we thought was possible will reshape the world. This is when AI evolution goes asymptomatic. We will be living in a William Gibson world in 3 years

It’s surreal, because we have all lived in that “AI remains super disappointing” default mode in 20 years. It’s been like fusion energy, always in the horizon. And suddenly we are living inside that takeoff moment when jaw dropping breakthroughs will start changing everything.

Specifically, photo modification apps have been around for years, and yeah, “Prism” made a bit of a splash, but it never really monetizes and was a bit dodgy. “Lensa” is so stunningly advanced it simply forced normies to pay for it through sheer excellence.

It has been ancient app industry dogma that photo manipulation apps simply don’t convert to paying customers; the wow factor just isn’t there. But “Lensa” is so far beyond what we thought is possible it just broke all the rules.

Every app vendor must pivot to AI IMMEDIATELY. This week. This is a fucking gold rush now. As long as consumers can be stunned by the entirely unexpected leap in graphics and Ai generated text quality, the monetization potential is insane. It’s the shock of the new that drives us

Finnish app vendors are famous for always being ahead of the curve - “Angry Birds” created the modern free app mould and “Clash of Clans” then rewrote the rules on monetization and psychological manipulation. But are you yokels awake to what is happening with AI?? Are you?

If you’re too lazy to learn how to do good prompts for AI art, you can outsource that part to another AI… and the results are spectacular.
OK so @OpenAI's new #ChatGPT can basically just generate #AIart prompts. I asked a one-line question, and typed the answers verbatim straight into MidJourney and boom. Times are getting weird...🤯

Lensa is Number 2 grossing app in America?? Of course the AI takeover of the world had to begin as turning your selfie into a wood elf with a laser saber.

We could have AI run a parallel Twitter and nobody would notice the difference

This thread is interesting because people have very strong opinions. This is the first tremor of the earthquake that AI will cause in creative industries. Lensa has now shown how to make people pay for AI art.
Wait everyone is PAYING for those ai generated portraits?? With MONEY???

Airbender people still bitter af
In 2004 we learned that we had to change the name of our show from “Avatar” to “Avatar the Last Airbender” because James Cameron already had the rights to a movie called Avatar. Now the sequel is called “The Way of Water.” If part 3 is called “The Firebending Masters” we riot
