🔺 EXCLUSIVE: A young man who accused Chris Pincher of groping him is angry at Boris Johnson for failing to suspend him immediately thetimes.co.uk/article/chris…
The man, who is in his mid-twenties, claims the party’s initial reticence to discipline Pincher, the deputy chief whip, left him “furious” and “shell-shocked”
Pincher, 52, the MP for Tamworth, finally had the whip withdrawn on Friday night, the day after he allegedly drunkenly groped two men at the Carlton Club in central London thetimes.co.uk/article/tory-…
He had already resigned as deputy chief whip, saying he had embarrassed himself while drunk.
It is the latest sleaze scandal to hit the Conservative Party this year. It has now lost four MPs over allegations of sexual misconduct, with a fifth being investigated for rape
Speaking for the first time, on the condition of anonymity, one of the men who claims he was groped last week said it was the first time he had met Pincher
He alleges that shortly after buying a round of drinks in the club’s Macmillan bar, Pincher groped his left buttock before moving his hand around to his groin
🗣️ “I had my drink in my hand and then he then went down and grabbed my arse and then slowly . . . moved his hand down the front of my groin. I froze a little bit and it ended after about two or three seconds. It was a very bizarre thing,” the man claims
The account was corroborated by an MP at the club.
The alleged victim excused himself and went to the bathroom.
🗣️ He claims: “I texted a friend to tell them what happened because I wanted a contemporaneous record”
The second man who was allegedly groped recounted a similar encounter. Pincher was thrown out of the club by Mark Fletcher, Tory MP for Bolsover, after he witnessed him staggering around the room.
Pincher allegedly made unwanted passes at two Conservative MPs in 2017 and 2018
While neither MP made a formal complaint at the time, in February this year, in the midst of a cabinet reshuffle, the second MP alerted Chris Heaton-Harris and a No 10 official to the incident amid fears that Pincher was being lined up to become chief whip
