An increasingly #fascist party; #guns everywhere; a dysfunctional #electoral system that creates minority rule; no accountability from the #political and #legal systems - it's a failing #democracy - thesoundings.com/2021/11/a-f…

I think we can rate this first salvo at how to message the developments at the Supreme Court something less than a success

Also trying to process the argument being seriously entertained that people can be forced to carry pregnancies because adoption exists and/or you can drop babies off at fire stations

The inverse of this is that PLATFORMING WORKS, which is why it's so bad that our media has developed a set of norms that they think REQUIRES them, in the name of fairness, to gamely elevate the authoritarians running one of our major parties.
Just to give you a sense of how well deplatforming works: Trump -- or, Scavino posting as Trump -- has been posting nonstop in his personal site (24 Twitter-like posts in the last three days) and you probably haven't seen a single one of them.

What’s Jared been up to?
Saudis definitely have reason to be pleased that high gas prices hurt Biden and help their buddy Trump. theintercept.com/2021/11/11/…

In each situation, the issue isn’t “politics” or “Congress” or “the House.” It’s the Republican Party, which has chosen a path of total degeneracy.

Can’t know for sure, but I think the CW that the end of Roe will be a boon to Dems is wrong, and (unless something changes) their inability to do anything about it despite concurrent majorities will be a huge blow to near-term morale. Sadly it looks like we’re gonna find out.

Then blamed them for giving it to him!
We just learned that the day after the former President tested positive for COVID, he did an event with families of Americans killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. He didn’t wear a mask. I know nothing should surprise us about him, but what an absolute garbage person.

In the Dobbs oral arguments, Justice Sotomayor was quietly taking apart Mississippi's Attorney General so badly a moment ago that Chief Justice Roberts had to jump in and save him. Roberts calls Justice Blackmun "an unfortunate source."

Sotomayor is stepping in for Breyer again and asking the lawyer to distinguish his objections on abortion from objections to contraception or gay marriage. He doesn’t really have an answer. WHICH I HOPE PEOPLE WHO DONT THINK THIS EFFECTS THEM NOTICE

A thing you should know: Scott Stewart, who today will argue that the U.S. Supreme Court should overturn Roe v. Wade, was the Trump administration's top lawyer defending family separations in federal court.

All the assurances made to Sen. Susan Collins and the Senate Judiciary Committee appear to be non-operative this morning.

I cannot, cannot, cannot for the life of me understand how anyone with a shred of empathy, let alone someone who's themselves given birth before, could think this. Everything about this is horrific.
Barrett suggesting abortion isn’t necessary because women can just gestate and birth a child and then give it up—a horrific trauma in itself, regardless of the physical demands and dangers of pregnancy and birth.

Real life lol at Kavanaugh's "I just want to be clear for the record, you're not saying the Court should ban abortion here, right?" Dude genuinely imagines himself to be some moderate thoughtful compromiser instead of the most replacement-level FedSoc goofus imaginable
