The retraction was forced and undeserved. If you analyze the 4 inserts as a group coming from a single genome and coming together in the 3D protein structure to form the receptor binding site, the results become highly significant.

But they are not inserts. These short AA sequences exist in many ancestral bat genomes. Not to mention that they are coded by different codons between SARS2 and HIV.

You are right. They are not "inserts" in the sense that someone or something inserted them. Therefore, I am referring to them from now on as regions of AA homology.
