In the application, journalists must link to their specific about page/bio, or to articles that reference them on the news org's official site. Independent or freelance journalists must provide links to 3 articles in Verified publications in the 6 months before applying.

Perhaps it would make sense to allow for those who have a credential to cover a sports team, press availability to high-level politicians, etc. Doesn't getting such access inherently show a level of credibility to the applicant? I've seen a number of sports writers get denied.

Verification is for notable people/groups within our eligible categories. If that sounds like you, submit a request! Click "More" in the sidebar, then click Settings and privacy > Your account > Account information. Under “Verified”, click “Request Verification to get started.

@verified how is it that I check all of these boxes but your verification process claims, weirdly, you cannot verify my newspaper email address is, in fact, my newspaper email address? My credentials with Canada's largest newspaper are clear as a bell.
