Well, if you don´t pay you have assets seized quite fast. Someone once had a 100 Million Ryanair plane chained up at an airport because they didn´t reimburse a ticket fee .... Generally you can not fire w/o notice period, and you have to do it with a proper sheet of paper ...

OK. What he was doing here was giving them several weeks pay.,Which is of course better than notice. With notice you still have to work to get paid. If you get $ you can start looking for a job right away and perhaps get double pay if you are hired soon.

All these folks missed that I was joking. But no one answered if the workers can quit without notice? It should be the same for both parties.

That's when you sue your employer and win very fast, because that's something you can't to, either. But they'll have to pay for your lawyer, too. The fun point about workers rights is that you actually have rights.

You can try that. In Norway not paying your employees is, by law, admitting bankruptcy. At which point your company can be liquidated and the proceeds used to pay your workers first, then your other creditors.

You can fire people, you just have to follow the rules. Assuming the employment rules are similar to the UK (which I assume they are), to fire someone you need to give appropriate notice and after 2 years (in UK) that reason needs to hold up in court otherwise you get sued.

Argh you can be fired just not in the manner he did it…you have to look the person in the eye and do it….
