Ugh. .@JoeNBC just stop. You’re trying to bait Buttigieg into using evangelical Christian language— something which he is not. Pete’s not even my candidate and this is pissing me off #MorningJoe

It was bizarre, especially considering how Pete friendly Morning Joe is. Pete going around saying he accepts JC as his Lord and Savior would hurt him in the primary. But mostly the ? is offensive. The fundy concept of being “saved” isnt part of his faith tradition. And thats fine

Ouch! That was painful! Pete handled it well but Joe really needs to understand that Evangelical language is NOT the sum of Christian language. I can only hope he did it as a never-Trumper looking to turn some Evangelical friends & family into Pete fans. thepetechannel.com/tpc-blog/…

I couldn’t believe what I was watching. Pete handled it okay but I wish he called Joe out on this question (in the diplomatic way that only Pete could).

Pete’s response was correct: “accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord & Savior” does in fact mean different things to different people. Its a dog whistle to evangelicals, alarming to main line Protestants & Catholics, and an aww hell no to secularists (people he cant risk alienating)

No, we Episcopalians don't talk like that.
