IMO this is an abuse of monopoly power. Either Google treats its own promotions the same way everyone else does, or it must sell/spin off Gmail. Antitrust law needs to catch up, and get enforced.

Copywriting isn't as formulaic as it's made to look like. It's an art of context & craft of expression. Changing "Get this" to "Snag this" doesn't change the meaning and doesn't much affect the visitor. What might is how well you work the context & need of prospect in the copy.
